He carried his own cross and went out ⌞of the city⌟ to a location called The Skull. (In Hebrew this place is called Golgotha.)

Then Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and gave it to his son Isaac. Abraham carried the burning coals and the knife. The two of them went on together.

The two good-for-nothing men came in and sat opposite him. In front of the people, these men accused Naboth of cursing God and the king. So the people stoned him to death outside the city.

“The man who cursed ⌞my name⌟ must be taken outside the camp. All who heard him curse ⌞my name⌟ must lay their hands on his head. Then the whole congregation must stone him to death.

Whoever doesn’t take up his cross and follow me doesn’t deserve to be my disciple.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses, and follow me.

They placed a written accusation above his head. It read, “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”

Jesus looked at him and loved him. He told him, “You’re still missing one thing. Sell everything you have. Give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then follow me!”

There was a written notice of the accusation against him. It read, “The king of the Jews.”

Let the Messiah, the king of Israel, come down from the cross now so that we may see and believe.” Even those who were crucified with him were insulting him.

Then Jesus called the crowd to himself along with his disciples. He said to them, “Those who want to follow me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses, and follow me.

So those who do not carry their crosses and follow me cannot be my disciples.

As the soldiers led Jesus away, they grabbed a man named Simon, who was from the city of Cyrene. Simon was coming into Jerusalem. They laid the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.

When they came to the place called The Skull, they crucified him. The criminals were also crucified, one on his right and the other on his left.

A written notice was placed above him. It said, “This is the king of the Jews.”

He said to all of them, “Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses every day, and follow me.

When Pilate heard what they said, he took Jesus outside and sat on the judge’s seat in a place called Stone Pavement. (In Hebrew it is called Gabbatha.)

Near Sheep Gate in Jerusalem was a pool called Bethesda in Hebrew. It had five porches.

and after they had thrown him out of the city, they began to stone him to death. The witnesses left their coats with a young man named Saul.
