Jesus knew everything that was going to happen to him. So he went to meet them and asked, “Who are you looking for?”

Before the Passover festival, Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go back to the Father. Jesus loved his own who were in the world, and he loved them to the end.

Jesus asked them again, “Who are you looking for?” They said, “Jesus from Nazareth.”

You make the path of life known to me. In your presence there is complete joy.’

Even though an army sets up camp against me, my heart will not be afraid. Even though a war breaks out against me, I will still have confidence ⌞in the Lord⌟.

After this, when Jesus knew that everything had now been finished, he said, “I’m thirsty.” He said this so that Scripture could finally be concluded.

(Jesus knew who was going to betray him. That’s why he said, “All of you, except for one, are clean.”)

But some of you don’t believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning those who wouldn’t believe and the one who would betray him.

Then he said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you. I told you that everything written about me in Moses’ Teachings, the Prophets, and the Psalms had to come true.”

Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will abandon me tonight. Scripture says, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep in the flock will be scattered.’

While they were eating, he said, “I can guarantee this truth: One of you is going to betray me.”

“You know that the Passover will take place in two days. At that time the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”

From that time on Jesus began to inform his disciples that he had to go to Jerusalem. There he would have to suffer a lot because of the leaders, the chief priests, and the experts in Moses’ Teachings. He would be killed, but on the third day he would be brought back to life.

A wicked person flees when no one is chasing him, but righteous people are as bold as lions.

I am not afraid of the tens of thousands who have taken positions against me on all sides.

But I asked, “Should a man like me run away? Would a man like me go into the temple to save his life? I won’t go.”

I solemnly swear, as the Lord your God lives, my master has searched for you in every region and kingdom. When people would say, ‘He isn’t here,’ my master made that kingdom or region take an oath that they hadn’t found you.

Since Christ has suffered physically, take the same attitude that he had. (A person who has suffered physically no longer sins.)

They answered him, “Jesus from Nazareth.” Jesus told them, “I am he.” Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with the crowd.
