Six days before Passover, Jesus arrived in Bethany. Lazarus, whom Jesus had brought back to life, lived there.

He left them and went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.

Jesus came into Jerusalem and went into the temple courtyard, where he looked around at everything. Since it was already late, he went out with the twelve apostles to Bethany.

Then Jesus took them to a place near Bethany. There he raised his hands and blessed them.

A woman who lived a sinful life in that city found out that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house. So she took a bottle of perfume

Lazarus, who lived in Bethany, the village where Mary and her sister Martha lived, was sick.

After Jesus had said this, he shouted as loudly as he could, “Lazarus, come out!”

The dead man came out. Strips of cloth were wound around his feet and hands, and his face was wrapped with a handkerchief. Jesus told them, “Free Lazarus, and let him go.”

The Jewish Passover was near. Many people came from the countryside to Jerusalem to purify themselves before the Passover.

On the next day the large crowd that had come to the Passover festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.

Some Greeks were among those who came to worship during the Passover festival.

A large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was in Bethany. So they went there not only to see Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom Jesus had brought back to life.
