Jesus loved Martha, her sister, and Lazarus.
As they were traveling along, Jesus went into a village. A woman named Martha welcomed him into her home.
But Martha was upset about all the work she had to do. So she asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work all by myself? Tell her to help me.”
The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha! You worry and fuss about a lot of things.
Lazarus, who lived in Bethany, the village where Mary and her sister Martha lived, was sick.
So the sisters sent a messenger to tell Jesus, “Lord, your close friend is sick.”
The Jews said, “See how much Jesus loved him.”
Yet, when Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was for two more days.
The disciples said to him, “Rabbi, not long ago the Jews wanted to stone you to death. Do you really want to go back there?”
The Father loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.
I have made your name known to them, and I will make it known so that the love you have for me will be in them and I will be in them.”
