He told them very clearly what he meant. Peter took him aside and objected to this.
The Jews surrounded him. They asked him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”
Jesus meant that Lazarus was dead, but the disciples thought Jesus meant that Lazarus was only sleeping.
but I’m glad that I wasn’t there so that you can grow in faith. Let’s go to Lazarus.”
