A scepter will never depart from Judah nor a ruler’s staff from between his feet until Shiloh comes and the people obey him.

All the nations that you have made will bow in your presence, O Lord. They will honor you.

Words from wise people are like spurs. Their collected sayings are like nails that have been driven in firmly. They come from one shepherd.

At that time the root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the people ⌞to gather around⌟. The nations will come to him. His resting place will be glorious.

I will say to the north, “Give them up,” and to the south, “Do not keep them.” Bring my sons from far away and my daughters from the ends of the earth.

The Lord will show his holy power to all the nations. All the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.

The Almighty Lord, who gathers the scattered people of Israel, declares, “I will gather still others besides those I have already gathered.”

As a shepherd looks after his flock when he is with his scattered sheep, so I will look after my sheep. I will rescue them on a cloudy and gloomy day from every place where they have been scattered.

Then I will place one shepherd over them, my servant David, and he will take care of them. He will take care of them and be their shepherd.

My sheep wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. They were scattered throughout the whole earth. No one searched or looked for them.

I will form them into one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel. One king will rule all of them. They will no longer be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms.

“ ‘My servant David will be their king, and all of them will have one shepherd. They will live by my rules, and they will obey my laws.

“Yet, the Israelites will become as numerous as the grains of sand on the seashore. No one will be able to measure them or count them. Wherever they were told, ‘You are not my people,’ they will be told, ‘You are the children of the living God.’

On that day many nations will join the Lord and become my people. I will live among you. Then you will know that the Lord of Armies has sent me to you.

He was still speaking when a bright cloud overshadowed them. Then a voice came out of the cloud and said, “This is my Son, whom I love and with whom I am pleased. Listen to him!”

“Suppose a woman has ten coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house, and look for the coin carefully until she finds it?

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.

But the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd.

My sheep respond to my voice, and I know who they are. They follow me,

The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep respond to his voice. He calls his sheep by name and leads them out of the pen.

After he has brought out all his sheep, he walks ahead of them. The sheep follow him because they recognize his voice.

They won’t follow a stranger. Instead, they will run away from a stranger because they don’t recognize his voice.”

He prophesied that Jesus wouldn’t die merely for this nation, but that Jesus would die to bring God’s scattered children together and make them one.

“I’m not praying only for them. I’m also praying for those who will believe in me through their message.

Everyone whom the Father gives me will come to me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to me.

Simon has explained how God first showed his concern by taking from non-Jewish people those who would honor his name.

I’m with you. No one will attack you or harm you. I have many people in this city.”

“Ananias said, ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will, to see the one who has God’s approval, and to hear him speak to you.

Brothers and sisters, I want you to understand this mystery so that you won’t become arrogant. The minds of some Israelites have become closed until all of God’s non-Jewish people are included.

We always have to thank God for you, brothers and sisters. You are loved by the Lord and we thank God that in the beginning he chose you to be saved through a life of spiritual devotion and faith in the truth.

The God of peace brought the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus, back to life through the blood of an eternal promise.

Once you were not God’s people, but now you are. Once you were not shown mercy, but now you have been shown mercy.

You were like lost sheep. Now you have come back to the shepherd and bishop of your lives.

Then, when the chief shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

Look, I’m standing at the door and knocking. If anyone listens to my voice and opens the door, I’ll come in and we’ll eat together.
