Wild animals, do not be afraid. The pastures in the wilderness have turned green. The trees have produced their fruit. There are plenty of figs and grapes.

When you farm the ground, it will no longer yield its best for you. You will be a fugitive, a wanderer on the earth.”

Your righteousness is like the mountains of God, your judgments like the deep ocean. You save people and animals, O Lord.

The pastures in the desert overflow ⌞with richness⌟. The hills are surrounded with joy.

The pastures are covered with flocks. The valleys are carpeted with grain. All of them shout triumphantly. Indeed, they sing.

The earth has yielded its harvest. May God, our God, bless us.

So the Lord will comfort Zion. He will comfort all those who live among its ruins. He will make its desert like Eden. He will make its wilderness like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.

I will make fruit grow on the trees and crops grow in the fields so that you will no longer suffer disgrace among the nations because of famines.

People will say, “This wasteland has become like the garden of Eden. The cities were destroyed. They were empty and ruined, but now they are fortified and have people living in them.”

“ ‘But you, mountains of Israel, will grow branches and bear fruit for my people Israel. My people will come home soon.

Shouldn’t I feel sorry for this important city, Nineveh? It has more than 120,000 people in it as well as many animals. These people couldn’t tell their right hand from their left.”

When anyone came to a pile of grain ⌞to get⌟ 20 measures, there would be only 10. And when anyone came to a wine vat to draw out 50 measures, there would be only 20 in it.

Seeds will thrive in peacetime. Vines will produce their grapes. The land will yield its crops. The sky will produce its dew. I will give the few remaining people all these things as an inheritance.

So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is important because ⌞only⌟ God makes it grow.
