“How long will you say these things? How long will your words be so windy?

God said, “Go out and stand in front of the Lord on the mountain.” As the Lord was passing by, a fierce wind tore mountains and shattered rocks ahead of the Lord. But the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind came an earthquake. But the Lord wasn’t in the earthquake.

“Should a wise person answer with endless details and fill his stomach with the east wind?

Will ⌞your⌟ long-winded speeches never end? What disturbs you that you keep on answering ⌞me⌟?

“How long before your words will end? Think it through, and then we’ll talk.

Do you think my words need correction? Do you think they’re what a desperate person says to the wind?

that God would ⌞finally⌟ be willing to crush me, that he would reach out to cut me off.

So I won’t keep my mouth shut, but I will speak from the distress that is in my spirit and complain about the bitterness in my soul.

Then Bildad from Shuah replied ⌞to Job⌟,

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the Lord God of the Hebrews says: How long will you refuse to humble yourself in my presence? Let my people go to worship me.

Then Pharaoh’s officials asked him, “How long will this man hold us in his grip? Let the Israelite men go to worship the Lord their God. When will you realize that Egypt is ruined?”

“How long will you gullible people love being so gullible? How long will you mockers find joy in your mocking? How long will you fools hate knowledge?

The prophets are nothing but windbags. The Lord hasn’t spoken through them, so let what they say happen to them.”
