My words are straight from the heart, and I sincerely speak the knowledge that is on my lips.
“Should a wise person answer with endless details and fill his stomach with the east wind?
my lips will not say anything wrong, and my tongue will not mumble anything deceitful.’
I won’t be partial toward anyone or flatter anyone.
I don’t know how to flatter. If I did, my maker would soon carry me away.
I’ve opened my mouth. The words are on the tip of my tongue.
“Who is this that belittles my advice with words that do not show any knowledge ⌞about it⌟?
“But now, if you’re willing, look at me. I won’t lie to your face.
The tongues of wise people give good expression to knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out a flood of stupidity.
The lips of wise people spread knowledge, but a foolish attitude does not.
There are gold and plenty of jewels, but the lips of knowledge are precious gems.
After all, I have taught you well. Do not abandon my teachings.
