“People listened to me eagerly, quietly waiting for my advice.

They were as eager to hear me as they were for rain. They opened their mouths wide as if waiting for a spring shower.

“That is why I say, ‘Listen to me! Let me tell you what I know.’

I’ve paid close attention to you, but none of you refuted Job. None of you has an answer to what he says.

Elihu waited as they spoke to Job because they were older than he was.

“We have studied all of this thoroughly! This is the way it is. Listen to it, and learn it for yourself.”

The first to state his case seems right ⌞until⌟ his neighbor comes to cross-examine him.

A rich person is wise in his own eyes, but a poor person with understanding sees right through him.
