God's Word

With his power he calmed the sea. With his insight he killed Rahab ⌞the sea monster⌟.

God has wisdom and strength. Advice and insight are his.

The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished when he yells at them.

God does not hold back his anger. Even Rahab’s helpers bow humbly in front of him.

The Lord sat enthroned over the flood. The Lord sits enthroned as king forever.

You stirred up the sea with your own strength. You smashed the heads of sea monsters in the water.

The Lord of Armies will have his day against all who are arrogant and conceited and all who are proud of themselves (they will be humbled),

I am the Lord your God who stirs up the sea and makes its waves roar. My name is the Lord of Armies.

Wake up! Wake up! Clothe yourself with strength, O Lord! Wake up as you did in days long past, as in generations long ago. Didn’t you cut Rahab  into pieces and stab the serpent?

The Lord provides the sun to be a light during the day. He orders the moon and stars to be lights during the night. He stirs up the sea so that its waves roar. His name is the Lord of Armies. This is what the Lord says:

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, will praise, honor, and give glory to the King of Heaven. Everything he does is true, his ways are right, and he can humiliate those who act arrogantly.

But God shows us even more kindness. Scripture says, “God opposes arrogant people, but he is kind to humble people.”
