“Listen carefully to my words, and let that be the comfort you offer me.

“Listen carefully to my words. Hear my declaration.

Please listen to my argument, and pay attention to my plea.

Isn’t God’s comfort enough for you, even when gently spoken to you?

“I have heard many things like this before. You are all pathetic at comforting me.

“How long before your words will end? Think it through, and then we’ll talk.

Then Job replied ⌞to his friends⌟,

Bear with me while I speak. Then after I’ve spoken, you may go on mocking.

“Please, Job, listen to my words and consider everything I say.

“Listen to my words, you wise men. Open your ears to me, you intelligent men.

Why do you spend money on what cannot nourish you and your wages on what does not satisfy you? Listen carefully to me: Eat what is good, and enjoy the best foods.

For this reason we must pay closer attention to what we have heard. Then we won’t drift away ⌞from the truth⌟.
