Then I sent someone to tell him, “None of your accusations are true. You are making them up out of your own imagination.”

“I have heard many things like this before. You are all pathetic at comforting me.

Certainly, you have all seen it. Why then do you chatter on about such nonsense?

My brothers have been as deceptive as seasonal rivers, like the seasonal riverbeds that flood.

They are ashamed because they relied on the streams. Arriving there, they are disappointed.

“So you are as unreliable to me ⌞as they are⌟. You see something terrifying, and you are afraid.

Arrogant people have smeared me with lies, ⌞yet⌟ I obey your guiding principles with all my heart.

“Never lie when you testify about your neighbor.

I’m against those who prophesy dreams they made up,” declares the Lord. “They tell the dreams they made up and lead my people astray with their lies and their wild talk. I didn’t send them or command them to go. They don’t help these people at all,” declares the Lord.

No one argues that you should be healed. No medicine will heal you.

Go to Gilead, and get medicine, dear people of Egypt. You have used many medicines without results; you can’t be cured.

They treat my people’s wounds as though they were not serious, saying, ‘Everything is alright! Everything is alright!’ But it’s not alright.

Isn’t there medicine in Gilead? Aren’t there doctors there? Then why hasn’t the health of my dear people been restored?

You have not strengthened those that were weak, healed those that were sick, or bandaged those that were injured. You have not brought back those that strayed away or looked for those that were lost. You have ruled them harshly and violently.

“When Ephraim saw that he was sick and when Judah saw his own wounds, Ephraim went to Assyria to ask the great king for help. But the king couldn’t cure them or heal their wounds.

When Jesus heard that, he said to them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor; those who are sick do. I’ve come to call sinners, not people who think they have God’s approval.”

Although she had been under the care of many doctors and had spent all her money, she had not been helped at all. Actually, she had become worse.
