What do you gain by mistreating me, by rejecting the work of your hands while you favor the plans of the wicked?
“ ‘Your hands formed me and made every part of me, then you turned to destroy me.
You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the person your hands have made.
when you turn against God and spit these words out of your mouth?
God handed me over to unjust people and threw me into the hands of wicked people.
then I want you to know that God has wronged me and surrounded me with his net.
Anyhow, isn’t their happiness in their own power? (The plan of the wicked is foreign to my way of thinking.)
Yet, he filled their homes with good things. (The plan of the wicked is foreign to my way of thinking.)
“I swear an oath by God, the one who has taken away my rights, by the Almighty, who has made my life bitter:
You have begun to treat me cruelly. With your mighty hand you assault me.
Didn’t he who made me in my mother’s belly make them? Didn’t the same God form us in the womb?
“God’s Spirit has made me. The breath of the Almighty gives me life.
“Will the person who finds fault with the Almighty correct him? Will the person who argues with God answer him?”
“Would you undo my justice? Would you condemn me so that you can be righteous?
“Certainly, God does not reject a person of integrity or give a helping hand to wicked people.
It is all the same. That is why I say, ‘He destroys ⌞both⌟ the man of integrity and the wicked.’
The earth is handed over to the wicked. He covers the faces of its judges. If he isn’t the one ⌞doing this⌟, who is?
Realize that the Lord alone is God. He made us, and we are his. We are his people and the sheep in his care.
The Lord will do everything for me. O Lord, your mercy endures forever. Do not let go of what your hands have made.
The Lord listens to needy people. He does not despise his own who are in prison.
But now, Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are our potter. We are the work of your hands.
Those who suffer because that is God’s will for them must entrust themselves to a faithful creator and continue to do what is good.
