Why do you hide your face ⌞from me⌟ and consider me your enemy?

“God’s anger tore me ⌞apart⌟ and attacked me. He gritted his teeth at me. My opponent looked sharply at me.

He does great things that ⌞we⌟ cannot understand and miracles that ⌞we⌟ cannot count.

I cried out until morning as if a lion had crushed all my bones. You ended my life in one day.

That is why a lion from the forest will attack them. A wolf from the wilderness will destroy them. A leopard will lie in ambush outside their cities. All who leave the cities will be torn to pieces, because they rebel so often and they become more and more unfaithful.

He is like a bear waiting to ambush me, like a lion in hiding.

I will be like a lion to Ephraim and like a young lion to the nation of Judah. I will carry ⌞them⌟ off, and no one will rescue ⌞them⌟.

The lion has roared. Who isn’t afraid? The Almighty Lord has spoken. Who can keep from prophesying?

If so, the Lord will strike you and your descendants with unimaginable plagues. They will be terrible and continuing plagues and severe and lingering diseases.
