So Abimelech ordered his people, “Anyone who touches this man or his wife will be put to death.”

The Lord told Satan, “Everything he has is in your power, but you must not lay a hand on him!” Then Satan left the Lord’s presence.

He said, “Naked I came from my mother, and naked I will return. The Lord has given, and the Lord has taken away! May the name of the Lord be praised.”

When they finished having their parties, Job would send for them in order to cleanse them from sin. He would get up early in the morning and sacrifice burnt offerings for each of them. Job thought, “My children may have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Job offered sacrifices for them all the time.

“Have pity on me, my friends! Have pity on me because God’s hand has struck me down.

The Lord asked Satan, “Have you thought about my servant Job? No one in the world is like him! He is a man of integrity: He is decent, he fears God, and he stays away from evil. And he still holds on to his principles. You’re trying to provoke me into ruining him for no reason.”

But stretch out your hand, and strike his flesh and bones. I bet he’ll curse you to your face.”

The Lord told Satan, “He is in your power, but you must spare his life!”

Satan left the Lord’s presence and struck Job with painful boils from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.

His wife asked him, “Are you still holding on to your principles? Curse God and die!”

But trouble comes to you, and you’re impatient. It touches you, and you panic.

“Do not touch my anointed ones or harm my prophets.”

That’s why the anger of the Lord burns hot against his people, and he is ready to use his power to strike them down. The hills tremble, and dead bodies lie like garbage in the streets. Even after all this, his anger has not disappeared, and he is still ready to use his power.

These people constantly and openly provoked me. They offered sacrifices in gardens and burnt incense on brick altars.

They will pass through the land when they are hard-pressed and hungry. When they are hungry, they will be furious. Then they will look up, cursing their king and God.

This is what the Lord of Armies says: Afterwards, the Glory sent me to the nations who looted you. Whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye.

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, power, kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah have come. The one accusing our brothers and sisters, the one accusing them day and night in the presence of our God, has been thrown out.

and cursed the God of heaven for their pains and their sores. However, they would not stop what they were doing.

Large, heavy hailstones fell from the sky on people. The people cursed God because the plague of hail was such a terrible plague.

They were severely burned. They cursed the name of God, who has the authority over these plagues. They would not change the way they think and act and give him glory.
