He puts an end to wars all over the earth. He breaks an archer’s bow. He cuts spears in two. He burns chariots.

There he destroyed flaming arrows, shields, swords, and weapons of war. Selah

I was shown a harsh vision. The traitor betrays. The destroyer destroys. Go to war, Elam! Surround them, Media! I will put an end to all the groaning.

The Lord will have a day of vengeance, a year of revenge in defense of Zion.

Tell those who are terrified, “Be brave; don’t be afraid. Your God will come with vengeance, with divine revenge. He will come and rescue you.”

He will pay them back according to their deeds. He will pay back his opponents with wrath and punish his enemies. He will pay back the people who live on the coastlands.

This is what the Lord of Armies says: I’m going to break the bows of Elam’s archers, the most important weapon of their strength.

The Babylonians will become the prize. All who loot them will get everything they want,” declares the Lord.

A sword will kill the false prophets. They will become fools. A sword will kill their soldiers and defeat them.

“In your presence I will pay back Babylon and all the people who live in Babylon for all the evil things that they did in Zion,” declares the Lord.

The warriors of Babylon have stopped fighting. They stay in their fortified cities. Their strength has failed. They have become women. Their buildings are set on fire. The bars across their gates are broken.

Then heaven and earth and everything in them will rejoice over Babylon, because destroyers from the north will attack it,” declares the Lord.

The people of Babylon might go up to heaven. They might fortify their strongholds. But destroyers will still come from me against them,” declares the Lord.

Run away from Babylon! Run for your lives! You shouldn’t die because of Babylon’s crimes. This is the time for the vengeance of the Lord. He will pay the people of Babylon back for what they have done.

Pay them back, O Lord, for what they deserve, for what their own hands have done.

Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand and make you drop the arrows in your right hand.

Those living in the cities of Israel will go out. They will set fire to weapons and burn them. They will burn small and large shields, bows and arrows, and war clubs and spears. They will burn them for seven years.

Archers will not stand their ground. Fast runners will not be able to escape. Horsemen will not be able to save themselves.

“The day of the Lord is near for all nations. Edom, you will be treated as you have treated others. You will get back what you have given.

You have looted many nations. All the rest of the people will loot you because of the slaughter and violence done to lands, cities, and all their inhabitants.

I will take revenge and be satisfied. In due time their foot will slip, because their day of disaster is near. Their doom is coming quickly.

Certainly, it is right for God to give suffering to those who cause you to suffer.

The ten horns and the beast you saw will hate the prostitute. They will leave her abandoned and naked. They will eat her flesh and burn her up in a fire.

“Gloat over it, heaven, God’s people, apostles, and prophets. God has condemned it for you.”

His judgments are true and fair. He has condemned the notorious prostitute who corrupted the world with her sexual sins. He has taken revenge on her for the blood of his servants.”
