This is what the Lord says: The whole earth will be ruined, although I will not destroy it completely.

“The king became angry. He sent his soldiers, killed those murderers, and burned their city.

I’m going to destroy them and turn them into something terrible, something ridiculed, and something permanently ruined.

So he had the Babylonian king attack them and execute their best young men in their holy temple. He didn’t spare the best men or the unmarried women, the old people or the sick people. God handed all of them over to him.

I will punish them for these things,” declares the Lord. “I will punish this nation.

The nations of Israel and Judah are unfaithful to me,” declares the Lord.

He captured the fortified cities in Judah and then came to Jerusalem.

I planted you like a choice grapevine from the very best seed. Now you have turned against me and have become a wild vine.
