Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart so that you may be rescued. Don’t continue making evil plans.

I hate two-faced people, but I love your teachings.

Wash me thoroughly from my guilt, and cleanse me from my sin.

If I had thought about doing anything sinful, the Lord would not have listened ⌞to me⌟.

“How long will you gullible people love being so gullible? How long will you mockers find joy in your mocking? How long will you fools hate knowledge?

Let wicked people abandon their ways. Let evil people abandon their thoughts. Let them return to the Lord, and he will show compassion to them. Let them return to our God, because he will freely forgive them.

I have seen you commit adultery and squeal with delight. I have seen you act like a shameless prostitute on the hills and in the fields. How horrible it will be for you, Jerusalem! Will you ever be clean?”

⌞The Lord says,⌟ “Judah’s sin is written with an iron pen. It is engraved with a diamond point on the tablet of their hearts and on the horns of their altars.

“Now say to the people of Judah and to those who live in Jerusalem, ‘This is what the Lord says: I’m going to prepare a disaster and make plans against you. Turn from your evil ways, change your lives, and do good.’

Even if you wash with detergent and use a lot of soap, I would still see the stains from your wickedness,” declares the Almighty Lord.

Listen, earth! I’m going to bring disaster on these people. It is the result of their own plots, because they won’t pay attention to my words. They reject my teachings.

Stop all the rebellious things that you are doing. Get yourselves new hearts and new spirits. Why do you want to die, nation of Israel?

Don’t even think of doing evil to each other. Don’t enjoy false testimony. I hate all these things, declares the Lord.

“Make a tree good, and then its fruit will be good. Or make a tree rotten, and then its fruit will be rotten. A person can recognize a tree by its fruit.

The Lord said to him, “You Pharisees clean the outside of cups and dishes. But inside you are full of greed and evil.

Simon Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, don’t wash only my feet. Wash my hands and my head too!”

So change your wicked thoughts, and ask the Lord if he will forgive you for thinking like this.

They knew God but did not praise and thank him for being God. Instead, their thoughts were pointless, and their misguided minds were plunged into darkness.

Again Scripture says, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are pointless.”

Come close to God, and he will come close to you. Clean up your lives, you sinners, and clear your minds, you doubters.
