Once I watched over them to uproot them, to tear them down, and to wreck, ruin, and hurt them. Now I will watch over them to build them up and to plant them,” declares the Lord.

“If only my life could be like it used to be, in the days when God watched over me,

When the Lord builds Zion, he will appear in his glory.

The Lord is the builder of Jerusalem. He is the one who gathers the outcasts of Israel together.

When God saves Zion, he will rebuild the cities of Judah. His servants will live there and take possession of it.

Today I have put you in charge of nations and kingdoms. You will uproot and tear down. You will destroy and overthrow. You will build and plant.”

Then the Lord said to me, “Right. I am watching to make sure that my words come true.”

I will watch over them for their own good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down. I will plant them and not uproot them.

I will enjoy blessing them. With all my heart and soul I will faithfully plant them in this land.

“This is what the Lord says: As I brought all these disasters on these people, so I will bring on them all these blessings that I have promised them.

Suppose you stay in this land. Then I will build you up and not tear you down. I will plant you and not uproot you. I will change my plans about the disaster I’ve brought on you.

I am going to watch over them. I am going to watch over them to bring disasters, not blessings. In Egypt the people from Judah will die in wars and famines until everyone is gone.

“Say this to Baruch, ‘This is what the Lord says: I will tear down what I have built. I will uproot what I have planted throughout the earth.

But in anger it was uprooted and thrown to the ground. The east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches broke off. They withered and were burned.

I will increase the number of people who live on you. All the people of Israel, all of them, will live on you. The cities will be inhabited, and the ruins will be rebuilt.

So you were prepared to bring this disaster on us. Lord our God, you are righteous in everything you do. But we never listened to you.

Learn, then, and understand that from the time the command is given to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the anointed prince comes, seven sets of seven time periods and sixty-two sets of seven time periods will pass. Jerusalem will be restored and rebuilt with a city square and a moat during the troubles of those times.

On that day I will set up David’s fallen tent. I will repair the holes in it. I will restore its ruined places. I will rebuild them as they were a long time ago.

I will restore my people Israel. They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink the wine from them. They will plant gardens and eat their fruit.

This is what the Lord of Armies says: When your ancestors made me angry, I made plans to destroy you, declares the Lord of Armies, and I didn’t change my plans.

So now I have again made plans, but this time to do good to Jerusalem and the people of Judah. Don’t be afraid.

‘Afterwards, I will return. I will set up David’s fallen tent again. I will restore its ruined places again. I will set it up again

The Lord your God will give you many blessings in everything you do: You will have many children. Your animals will have many offspring. Your soil will produce many crops. The Lord will again delight in making you as prosperous as he made your ancestors.
