One nation crushed another nation; one city crushed another. God had tormented them with every kind of trouble.

The Lord will make his majestic voice heard. He will come down with all his might, with furious anger, with fire storms, windstorms, rainstorms, and hailstones.

The Lord is angry with all the nations. He is furious with all their armies. He has claimed them for destruction. He has handed them over to be slaughtered.

Their arrows are sharpened; all their bows are ready to shoot. Their horses’ hoofs are as hard as flint. Their chariot wheels are as quick as the wind.

Because of their actions and their thoughts, I am coming to gather the nations of every language. They will come and see my glory.

The storm of the Lord will come with his anger. Like a windstorm, it will swirl down on the heads of the wicked.

This is what the Lord says: An army is going to come from the north. A great nation is preparing itself in the distant parts of the earth.

Its people take hold of bows and spears. They are cruel and have no compassion. They sound like the roaring sea. They ride on horses. They march like soldiers ready for battle against my people Zion.

The Lord declares, “Just wait! One day I will stand up as a witness. I have decided to gather nations, to bring kingdoms together, and to pour my rage, my burning anger, on them. The whole land will be consumed by my fiery fury.

Then Jesus continued, “Nation will fight against nation and kingdom against kingdom.

“Miraculous signs will occur in the sun, moon, and stars. The nations of the earth will be deeply troubled and confused because of the roaring and tossing of the sea.
