Jeremiah 24:1

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon took Jehoiakin  (son of King Jehoiakim of Judah), the princes of Judah, the skilled workers, and the builders from Jerusalem into captivity and brought them to Babylon. After this, the Lord showed me two baskets of figs set in front of the Lord’s temple.

At that time the officers of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon attacked Jerusalem. (The city was blockaded.)

In the spring King Nebuchadnezzar sent for Jehoiakin and brought him to Babylon with the valuable utensils from the Lord’s temple. Nebuchadnezzar made Jehoiakin’s uncle Zedekiah king of Judah and Jerusalem.

This is the divine revelation which Isaiah, son of Amoz, saw about Babylon.

The cities in the Negev will be locked up, and there will be no one to reopen them. All the people of Judah will be taken away into captivity.

I will also bring back to this place Jehoiakin, son of King Jehoiakim of Judah, and all the captives of Judah who went to Babylon, declares the Lord. So I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.”

The prophet Jeremiah sent a letter from Jerusalem to the rest of the leaders among the captives. He also sent it to the priests, the prophets, and all the people that Nebuchadnezzar took away as captives from Jerusalem to Babylon.

(This was after King Jehoiakin  and his mother, the court officials, the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and metal workers left Jerusalem.)

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon appointed Zedekiah, son of Josiah, to be king of Judah. Zedekiah succeeded Jehoiakin, son of Jehoiakim.

It broke off the highest twig and carried it to a country of merchants. It planted the twig in a city of merchants.

With hooks they put him in a cage and brought him to the king of Babylon. They put him in prison so that his roar wouldn’t be heard anymore on the mountains of Israel.

Certainly, the Almighty Lord doesn’t do anything unless he ⌞first⌟ reveals his secret to his servants the prophets.

This is what the Almighty Lord showed me: He was preparing swarms of locusts when the second crop was being harvested. It was the harvest that followed the harvest for the king.

This is what the Almighty Lord showed me: The Almighty Lord was calling for judgment by fire. The fire dried up the ocean and burned up the land.

This is what he showed me: The Lord was standing by a wall built with the use of a plumb line, and he had a plumb line in his hand.

Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen.

Then he showed me Joshua, the chief priest, standing in front of the Messenger of the Lord. Satan the Accuser was standing at Joshua’s right side to accuse him.
