A trustworthy person has many blessings, but anyone in a hurry to get rich will not escape punishment.

Those who gather wealth by lying are wasting time. They are looking for death.

“But your eyes and your mind are set on nothing but dishonest profits. You kill innocent people and violently oppress your people.”

“How horrible it will be for the person who builds his house dishonestly and his upper rooms through injustice. He makes his neighbors work for nothing and doesn’t pay them for their work.

Whoever becomes wealthy through ⌞unfair⌟ loans and interest collects them for the one who is kind to the poor.

Whoever is greedy for unjust gain brings trouble to his family, but whoever hates bribes will live.

They’re always looking for an adulterous woman. They can’t stop looking for sin as they seduce people who aren’t sure of what they believe. Their minds are focused on their greed. They are cursed.

They must be silenced because they are ruining whole families by teaching what they shouldn’t teach. This is the shameful way they make money.

On that day I will punish all who jump over the doorway and all who fill their master’s house with violence and deception.

A stingy person is in a hurry to get rich, not realizing that poverty is about to overtake him.

Wealth ⌞gained⌟ through injustice dwindles away, but whoever gathers little by little has plenty.

But you, O God, will throw ⌞wicked people⌟ into the deepest pit. Bloodthirsty and deceitful people will not live out half their days. But I will trust you.

“But God said to him, ‘You fool! I will demand your life from you tonight! Now who will get what you’ve accumulated?’

In their greed they will use good-sounding arguments to exploit you. The verdict against them from long ago is still in force, and their destruction is not asleep.

But people who want to get rich keep falling into temptation. They are trapped by many stupid and harmful desires which drown them in destruction and ruin.

“How horrible it will be for you, experts in Moses’ Teachings and Pharisees! You hypocrites! You lock people out of the kingdom of heaven. You don’t enter it yourselves, and you don’t permit others to enter when they try.

“I will come to judge you. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers, lying witnesses, and those who cheat workers out of their wages and oppress widows and orphans. I will also testify against those who deprive foreigners of their rights. None of them fear me,” says the Lord of Armies.

I will send out a curse, declares the Lord of Armies, and it will enter the houses of thieves and the houses of those who take oaths in my name. It will stay in their houses and destroy the timber and stone.”

Their hands are skilled in doing evil. Officials ask for gifts. Judges accept bribes. Powerful people dictate what they want. So they scheme together.

You force the women among my people out of their pleasant homes and take my glory away from their children forever.

Those who collect profits in their palaces through violent and destructive acts don’t know how to do what is right, declares the Lord.

A leader without understanding taxes ⌞his people⌟ heavily, but those who hate unjust gain will live longer.

Will you catch only a fleeting glimpse of wealth before it is gone? It makes wings for itself like an eagle flying into the sky.

This is the final outcome for fools and their followers who are delighted by what they say: Selah

“All of them, from the least important to the most important, are eager to make money dishonestly. All of them, from prophets to priests, act deceitfully.
