Pride precedes a disaster, and an arrogant attitude precedes a fall.

We’ve heard of the arrogance of Moab’s people. They are very arrogant. We’ve heard of their boasting, arrogance, and conceit, but their boasts aren’t true.

The Lord of Armies planned this in order to dishonor all arrogant people and to humiliate all the honored people of the world.

Then the Lord spoke his word to me. He said,

Jerusalem and the cities of Judah as well as its kings and officials. When they drank from it, they became wastelands and ruins, something ridiculed and cursed, until today.

“We have heard about the arrogance of Moab’s people. They are very arrogant. They are very arrogant, conceited, and boastful.

They were arrogant and did disgusting things in front of me. So I did away with them when I saw this.

You didn’t mention your sister Sodom when you were arrogant.

I will crush your arrogance. You will have no rain, and your land will be as hard as cement.

The Lord will restore Jacob’s glory like Israel’s glory, although enemies have looted it and have destroyed its vines.

On that day you will no longer be ashamed of all your rebellious acts against me. Then I will remove your arrogance and never again will you act proud on my holy mountain.

“I can guarantee that this tax collector went home with God’s approval, but the Pharisee didn’t. Everyone who honors himself will be humbled, but the person who humbles himself will be honored.”

But God shows us even more kindness. Scripture says, “God opposes arrogant people, but he is kind to humble people.”

Young people, in a similar way, place yourselves under the authority of spiritual leaders. Furthermore, all of you must serve each other with humility, because God opposes the arrogant but favors the humble.
