The Lord called you a large olive tree that has beautiful fruit to look at. He will set fire to you with a mighty storm, and your branches will be broken.

He is like a well-watered plant in the sunshine. The shoots spread over his garden.

But I am like a large olive tree in God’s house. I trust the mercy of God forever and ever.

The vine has been cut down and burned. Let them be destroyed by the threatening look on your face.

Let your power rest on the man you have chosen, the son of man you strengthened for yourself.

Look, your enemies are in an uproar. Those who hate you hold their heads high.

When the branches are dried up, they will be broken off. Women will come and build a fire with them. These people don’t understand ⌞these things⌟. That is why their maker won’t have compassion on them, and their Creator won’t have pity on them.

I planted you like a choice grapevine from the very best seed. Now you have turned against me and have become a wild vine.

“ ‘I will punish you because of the evil things you have done,’ ” declares the Lord. “ ‘I will start a fire in your forests, and it will burn up everything around you.’ ”

“This is what the Almighty Lord says: My anger and fury will be poured out on this place, on humans and animals, and on trees and crops. My anger and fury will burn and not be put out.

They will be like growing branches. They will be beautiful like olive trees. They will be fragrant like cedars from Lebanon.

The ax is now ready to cut the roots of the trees. Any tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into a fire.

Whoever doesn’t live in me is thrown away like a branch and dries up. Branches like this are gathered, thrown into a fire, and burned.

You will have olive trees everywhere in your country but no olive oil to rub on your skin, because the olives will fall off the trees.

These witnesses are the two olive trees and the two lamp stands standing in the presence of the Lord of the earth.
