My tent is destroyed, and all my ropes are broken. My children have left me and have disappeared. There’s no one to set up my tent again or put up my tent curtains.

This is what the Lord says: A sound is heard in Ramah, the sound of crying in bitter grief. Rachel is crying for her children. She refuses to be comforted, because they are dead.

One disaster follows another. The whole land is ruined. My tents are suddenly destroyed. Their curtains are torn in an instant.

Its opponents are now in control. Its enemies have no worries. The Lord made Zion suffer for its many rebellious acts. Its children go ahead of their opponents into captivity.

You force the women among my people out of their pleasant homes and take my glory away from their children forever.
