Isaiah 58:11

God's Word

The Lord will continually guide you and satisfy you even in sun-baked places. He will strengthen your bones. You will become like a watered garden and like a spring whose water does not stop flowing.

“In famine he will save you from death, and in war he will save you from the sword.

He is like a tree planted beside streams— a tree that produces fruit in season and whose leaves do not wither. He succeeds in everything he does.

He gave plenty to drink to those who were thirsty. He filled those who were hungry with good food.

He leads humble people to do what is right, and he teaches them his way.

⌞The Lord says,⌟ “I will instruct you. I will teach you the way that you should go. I will advise you as my eyes watch over you.

to rescue their souls from death and keep them alive during a famine.

They will not be put to shame in trying times. Even in times of famine they will be satisfied.

“This God is our God forever and ever. He will lead us beyond death.”

With your advice you guide me, and in the end you will take me to glory.

Their strength grows as they go along until each one of them appears in front of God in Zion.

Even when they are old, they still bear fruit. They are always healthy and fresh.

A generous person will be made rich, and whoever satisfies others will himself be satisfied.

A lazy person craves food and there is none, but the appetite of hard-working people is satisfied.

A greedy person stirs up a fight, but whoever trusts the Lord prospers.

⌞Then⌟ your body will be healed, and your bones will have nourishment.

⌞You are⌟ a spring for gardens, a well of living water flowing from Lebanon.

I, the Lord, watch over it. I water it continually. I watch over it day and night so that no one will harm it.

This person will live on high. His stronghold will be a fortress made of rock. He will have plenty of food and a dependable supply of water.

“The poor and needy are looking for water, but there is none. Their tongues are parched with thirst. I, the Lord, will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will not abandon them.

They will spring up with the grass as poplars spring up by streams.

They will never be hungry or thirsty, nor will the sun or the burning, hot wind strike them. The one who has compassion on them will lead them and guide them to springs.

I’ve seen their ⌞sinful⌟ ways, but I’ll heal them. I’ll guide them and give them rest. I’ll comfort them and their mourners.

Like the ground that brings forth its crops and like a garden that makes the seed in it grow, so the Almighty Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up in front of all nations.

When you see it, your heart will rejoice and you will flourish like new grass. The power of the Lord will be made known to his servants, but he will condemn his enemies.

He will be like a tree that is planted by water. It will send its roots down to a stream. It will not be afraid in the heat of summer. Its leaves will turn green. It will not be anxious during droughts. It will not stop producing fruit.

They will come and shout for joy on top of Mount Zion. They will stream to it to enjoy the Lord’s blessings: fresh grain, new wine, and olive oil, lambs and calves. Their lives will be like well-watered gardens, and they will never suffer again.

People will say, “This wasteland has become like the garden of Eden. The cities were destroyed. They were empty and ruined, but now they are fortified and have people living in them.”

I took care of you  in the desert, in a dry land.

When the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into the full truth. He won’t speak on his own. He will speak what he hears and will tell you about things to come.

But those who drink the water that I will give them will never become thirsty again. In fact, the water I will give them will become in them a spring that gushes up to eternal life.”

As Scripture says, ‘Streams of living water will flow from deep within the person who believes in me.’ ”

In any case, there shouldn’t be any poor people among you, because the Lord your God will certainly bless you in the land he is giving you as your own possession.

We pray that God our Father and the Lord Jesus will guide us to you.
