Isaiah 56:1

God's Word

This is what the Lord says: Preserve justice, and do what is right. My salvation is about to come. My righteousness is about to be revealed.

Blessed are those who defend justice and do what is right at all times.

Whoever offers thanks as a sacrifice honors me. I will let everyone who continues in my way see the salvation that comes from God.”

Indeed, his salvation is near those who fear him, and ⌞his⌟ glory will remain in our land.

The Lord is honored because he lives on high. He will fill Zion with justice and righteousness.

I’ll bring my righteousness near; it isn’t far away. My salvation will not be delayed. I’ll provide salvation for Zion and bring my glory to Israel.

My righteousness is near. My salvation is on the way. I will bring justice to people. The coastlands put their hope in me, and they wait eagerly for me.

Let wicked people abandon their ways. Let evil people abandon their thoughts. Let them return to the Lord, and he will show compassion to them. Let them return to our God, because he will freely forgive them.

I, the Lord, love justice. I hate robbery and wrongdoing. I will faithfully reward my people’s work. I will make an everlasting promise  to them.

You greeted the one who gladly does right and remembers your ways. You showed your anger, because we’ve sinned. We’ve continued to sin for a long time. Can we still be saved?

“Seventy sets of seven time periods have been assigned for your people and your holy city. These time periods will serve to bring an end to rebellion, to stop sin, to forgive wrongs, to usher in everlasting righteousness, to put a seal on a prophet’s vision, and to anoint the Most Holy One.

⌞The Lord says,⌟ “The merchants use dishonest scales. They love to cheat people.

You mortals, the Lord has told you what is good. This is what the Lord requires from you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to live humbly with your God.

I have sinned against the Lord. So I will endure his fury until he takes up my cause and wins my case. He will bring me into the light, and I will see his victory.

“Remember the teachings of my servant Moses, the rules and regulations that I gave to him at Horeb for all Israel.

“Turn to God and change the way you think and act, because the kingdom of heaven is near.”

From then on, Jesus began to tell people, “Turn to God and change the way you think and act, because the kingdom of heaven is near!”

He said, “The time has come, and God’s kingdom is near. Change the way you think and act, and believe the Good News.”

Those who want to follow the will of God will know if what I teach is from God or if I teach my own thoughts.

God’s approval is revealed in this Good News. This approval begins and ends with faith as Scripture says, “The person who has God’s approval will live by faith.”
