The Philistines left their idols there, so David and his men carried the idols away.

This is the divine revelation about the animals in the Negev. “My people travel through lands where they experience distress and hardship. Lions and lionesses live there. Vipers and poisonous snakes live there. They carry their riches on the backs of young donkeys and their treasures on the humps of camels to a nation that can’t help them.

Since you trust the things you do and your treasures, you will be captured. Chemosh will go into captivity with all its priests and officials.

That is why the days are coming when I will punish Babylon’s idols. The whole country will be put to shame, and all its soldiers will lie dead.

He will take the metal statues of their gods and their precious utensils of silver and gold back to Egypt. He will rule for more years than the northern king.

The Lord has given this command about you, Nineveh: You will no longer have descendants to carry on your name. I will remove the wooden and metal idols from the temple of your gods. I will prepare your grave because you are worthless.
