The Lord is pleased because he does what is right. He praises the greatness of his teachings and makes them glorious.

I will bow toward your holy temple. I will give thanks to your name because of your mercy and truth. You have made your name and your promise greater than everything.

I am happy to do your will, O my God.” Your teachings are deep within me.

I will come with the mighty deeds of the Almighty Lord. I will praise your righteousness, yours alone.

Your righteousness reaches to the heavens, O God. You have done great things. O God, who is like you?

He will not be discouraged or crushed until he has set up justice on the earth. The coastlands will wait for his teachings.

Pay attention to me, my people. Open your ears to hear me, my nation. My teachings will go out from me. My justice will become a light for the people.

He was still speaking when a bright cloud overshadowed them. Then a voice came out of the cloud and said, “This is my Son, whom I love and with whom I am pleased. Listen to him!”

Jesus answered him, “This is the way it has to be now. This is the proper way to do everything that God requires of us.” Then John gave in to him.

Then a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love—my Son with whom I am pleased.”

If you obey my commandments, you will live in my love. I have obeyed my Father’s commandments, and in that way I live in his love.

Besides, the one who sent me is with me. He hasn’t left me by myself. I always do what pleases him.”

Christ is the fulfillment of Moses’ Teachings so that everyone who has faith may receive God’s approval.

Are we abolishing the laws in the Scriptures by this faith? That’s unthinkable! Rather, we are supporting these laws.

So the laws in Moses’ Teachings are holy, and the commandment is holy, right, and good.

Christ paid the price to free us from the curse that the laws in Moses’ Teachings bring by becoming cursed instead of us. Scripture says, “Everyone who is hung on a tree is cursed.”

Does this mean, then, that the laws given to Moses contradict God’s promises? That’s unthinkable! If those laws could give us life, then certainly we would receive God’s approval because we obeyed them.

Faithfully obey these laws. This will show the people of the world your wisdom and insight. When they hear about all these laws, they will say, “What wise and insightful people there are in this great nation!”

Or what other great nation has such fair laws and rules as all these teachings I am giving you today?

and to have a relationship with him. This means that I didn’t receive God’s approval by obeying his laws. The opposite is true! I have God’s approval through faith in Christ. This is the approval that comes from God and is based on faith

But this is the promise that I will make to Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my teachings inside them, and I will write those teachings on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
