The idols of the nations are made of silver and gold. They were made by human hands.

Those who make idols end up like them. So does everyone who trusts them.

On that day people will throw to the moles and the bats the silver and gold idols that they made for themselves to worship.

Their land is filled with idols, and they worship what their hands have shaped and what their fingers have molded.

Then you will dishonor your silver-plated idols and your gold-covered statues. You will throw them away like clothing ruined by stains. You will say to them, “Get out!”

Hammered silver is brought from Tarshish and gold from Uphaz. Craftsmen and goldsmiths shape these metals. The clothing for the idols is blue and purple, all made by skilled workers.

They drank the wine and praised their gods made of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, or stone.

Samaria’s calf-shaped idol was made in Israel. Skilled workers made it. It is not a god. It will be smashed to pieces.

When Micah returned the silver to his mother, she took 200 pieces of the silver and gave it to a silversmith. He made a carved idol and a metal idol. Both were placed in Micah’s home.
