Isaiah 38:3

God's Word

“Please, Lord, remember how I’ve lived faithfully and sincerely in your presence. I’ve done what you consider right.” And he cried bitterly.

When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him. He said to Abram, “I am God Almighty. Live in my presence with integrity.

This is the account of Noah and his descendants. Noah had God’s approval and was a man of integrity among the people of his time. He walked with God.

Although the illegal worship sites were not torn down, Asa remained committed to the Lord his entire life.

⌞You’ll succeed⌟ because the Lord will keep the promise he made to me: ‘If your descendants are faithful to me with all their hearts and lives, you will never fail to have an heir on the throne of Israel.’

He did what the Lord considered right, as his ancestor David had done.

“And you, my son Solomon, learn to know your father’s God. Serve the Lord wholeheartedly and willingly because he searches every heart and understands every thought ⌞we have⌟. If you dedicate your life to serving him, he will accept you. But if you abandon him, he will reject you from then on.

Make my son Solomon completely committed ⌞to you⌟ so that he will obey your commands, requests, and laws and do everything to build the palace I have planned.”

The people were overjoyed that the leaders gave so generously and wholeheartedly to the Lord. King David was also overjoyed, and

The Lord’s eyes scan the whole world to find those whose hearts are committed to him and to strengthen them. You acted foolishly in this matter. So from now on, you will have to fight wars.”

He did what the Lord considered right, but he did not do it wholeheartedly.

While Ezra was praying, confessing ⌞these sins⌟, crying, and throwing himself down in front of God’s temple, a large crowd of Israelite men, women, and children gathered around him. They also began to cry bitterly.

When I heard this, I sat down and cried. I mourned for days. I continued to fast and pray to the God of heaven.

⌞Nehemiah prayed,⌟ “Remember me for what I have done, my God, and don’t wipe out the good things that I have done for your temple and for the worship that is held there.”

Then I told the Levites to cleanse themselves and guard the gates to keep the day of rest holy. ⌞Nehemiah prayed,⌟ “Remember me also for this, my God, and spare me, since you are very kind.”

I also arranged for delivering wood at regular times and for bringing the first produce to be harvested. ⌞Nehemiah prayed,⌟ “Remember me, my God, for my benefit.”

Remember me, my God. Consider everything that I have done for these people.

I want to understand the path to integrity. When will you come to me? I will live in my own home with integrity.

I eat ashes like bread and my tears are mixed with my drink

Let my heart be filled with integrity in regard to your laws so that I will not be put to shame.

I always keep the Lord in front of me. When he is by my side, I cannot be moved.

I see your mercy in front of me. I walk in the light of your truth.

Blessed is the person whom the Lord no longer accuses of sin and who has no deceitful thoughts.

I am worn out from my groaning. My eyes flood my bed every night. I soak my couch with tears.

Get away from me, all you troublemakers, because the Lord has heard the sound of my crying.

Hezekiah turned to the wall and prayed to the Lord.

Then the Lord spoke his word to Isaiah,

He struggled with the Messenger and won. Jacob cried and pleaded with him. Jacob found him at Bethel, and he talked with him there.

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and remarked, “Here is a true Israelite who is sincere.”

We are proud that our conscience is clear. We are proud of the way that we have lived in this world. We have lived with a God-given holiness  and sincerity, especially toward you. It was not by human wisdom that we have lived but by God’s kindness.

Do what the Lord considers right and good. Then things will go well for you, and you will enter and take possession of that good land which the Lord promised to your ancestors with an oath.

During his life on earth, Jesus prayed to God, who could save him from death. He prayed and pleaded with loud crying and tears, and he was heard because of his devotion to God.

God is fair. He won’t forget what you’ve done or the love you’ve shown for him. You helped his holy people, and you continue to help them.
