God's Word

The Lord of Armies will defend Jerusalem like a hovering bird. He will defend it and rescue it. He will pass over it and protect it.

The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep water. The Spirit of God was hovering over the water.

“I will shield this city to rescue it for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.”

So the Lord saved Hezekiah and the people living in Jerusalem from King Sennacherib of Assyria and from everyone else. The Lord gave them peace with all their neighbors.

The Lord helps them and rescues them. He rescues them from wicked people. He saves them because they have taken refuge in him.

God is in that city. It cannot fall. God will help it at the break of dawn.

Nations are in turmoil, and kingdoms topple. The earth melts at the sound of ⌞God’s⌟ voice.

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. His truth is your shield and armor.

you must answer, ‘It’s the Passover sacrifice in the Lord’s honor. The Lord passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he killed the Egyptians.’ ” Then the people knelt, bowing with their faces touching the ground.

‘You have seen for yourselves what I did to Egypt and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to my mountain.

I’ve found the riches of nations as one finds a nest. I’ve gathered the whole world as one gathers abandoned eggs. Not one of them flapped a wing, opened its mouth, or peeped.”

On that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city. Its walls and fortifications provide safety.

I, the Lord, watch over it. I water it continually. I watch over it day and night so that no one will harm it.

Tell those who are terrified, “Be brave; don’t be afraid. Your God will come with vengeance, with divine revenge. He will come and rescue you.”

“I will shield this city to rescue it for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.”

I’ll rescue you and defend this city from the control of the king of Assyria.’ ”

The Lord will appear over them, and his arrow will go out like lightning. The Almighty Lord will blow the ram’s horn and will march in the storms from the south.

I will camp in front of my house as a guard against those who come and go. No oppressors will pass through them, because I have seen it with my own eyes.

Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreads its wings to catch them, and carries them on its feathers,
