He changes deserts into lakes and dry ground into springs.

As they pass through a valley where balsam trees grow, they make it a place of springs. The early rains cover it with blessings.

until the Spirit is poured on us from on high. Then the wilderness will be turned into a fertile field, and the fertile field will be considered a forest.

I will plant cedar, acacia, myrtle, and wild olive trees in the desert. I will place cedar, fir, and cypress trees together in the wilderness.

I will make it a wasteland. It will never be pruned or hoed. Thorns and weeds will grow in it, and I will command the clouds not to rain on it.

Cypress trees will grow where thornbushes grew. Myrtle trees will grow where briars grew. This will be a reminder of the Lord’s name and an everlasting sign that will never be destroyed.

Your holy people possessed the land for a little while. Our enemies have trampled on your holy place.

In the same way, the Israelites will wait a long time without kings or officials, without sacrifices or sacred stones, and without ephods  or family idols.

Because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a pile of rubble, and the temple mountain will become a worship site covered with trees.

The vision will still happen at the appointed time. It hurries toward its goal. It won’t be a lie. If it’s delayed, wait for it. It will certainly happen. It won’t be late.

“This is what the Lord of Armies says: Once again, in a little while, I am going to shake the sky and the earth, the sea and the dry land.

However, many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.

That is why I can guarantee that God’s kingdom will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce what God wants.

“Yet, the one who is coming will come soon. He will not delay.
