The Lord of Armies has planned it. Who can stop it? He is ready to use his power. Who can turn it back?

He said, “Lord God of our ancestors, aren’t you the God in heaven? You rule all the kingdoms of the nations. You possess power and might, and no one can oppose you.

If God comes along and imprisons ⌞someone⌟ and then calls a court into session, who can stop him?

“But God is one of a kind. Who can make him change his mind? He does whatever he wants!

“Would you undo my justice? Would you condemn me so that you can be righteous?

“I know that you can do everything and that your plans are unstoppable.

He takes something away, ⌞but⌟ who can stop him? Who is going to ask him, ‘What are you doing?’

The Lord’s plan stands firm forever. His thoughts stand firm in every generation.

Many plans are in the human heart, but the advice of the Lord will endure.

No wisdom, no understanding, and no advice ⌞can stand up⌟ against the Lord.

The Lord of Armies planned this in order to dishonor all arrogant people and to humiliate all the honored people of the world.

“From the ⌞first⌟ day I was the one ⌞who did this⌟. No one can rescue people from my power. When I do something, who can undo it?”

I will call a bird of prey from the east. I will call someone for my plan from a faraway land. I have spoken, and I will bring it about. I have planned it, and I will do it.

Make plans for battle, but they will never succeed. Give orders, but they won’t be carried out, because God is with us!

the Arameans from the east and the Philistines from the west. They will devour Israel with open mouths. Even after all this, his anger will not disappear, and he is still ready to use his power.

The earth will mourn, and the sky will grow black. I have spoken, and I have planned it. I won’t change my plans, and I won’t turn back.

Those who escape the wars will return to Judah from Egypt. Then all the people of Judah who went to live in Egypt will know whose words have come true, mine or theirs.

Listen to the plans that the Lord is making against Edom and the things he intends to do to those who live in Teman. He will surely drag away the little ones of the flock. He will surely destroy the pasture because of the people who live in Teman.

This is the message that the prophet Jeremiah gave to Seraiah, son of Neriah and grandson of Mahseiah, when Seraiah went to Babylon with King Zedekiah of Judah in the fourth year of Zedekiah’s rule. (Seraiah was the quartermaster.)

I will turn you into bare rock. You will become a place to spread fishing nets. You will never be rebuilt. I, the Lord, have spoken, declares the Almighty Lord.

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God—those whom he has called according to his plan.

What can we say about all of this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
