Then the Lord told me, “Love your wife again, even though she is loved by others and has committed adultery. Love her as I, the Lord, love the Israelites, even though they have turned to other gods and love to eat raisin cakes.”

Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a pleasant child? Even though I have often spoken against him, I still think fondly of him. That is why my heart longs for him, and I will certainly have compassion on him,” declares the Lord.

This is what the Lord of Armies says: I have returned to Jerusalem with compassion. My house will be rebuilt in it, declares the Lord of Armies. A measuring line will be used to rebuild Jerusalem.

But like a wife who betrays her husband, so you, nation of Israel, betrayed me,” declares the Lord.

As servants depend on their masters, as a maid depends on her mistress, so we depend on the Lord our God until he has pity on us.

You cannot drink the Lord’s cup and the cup of demons. You cannot participate at the table of the Lord and at the table of demons.

How horrible it will be for those who drink wine by the jugful. They rub the finest oils all over themselves and are not sorry for the ruin ⌞of the descendants⌟ of Joseph.

Beside every altar, they spread themselves out on clothes taken as security. In the temples of their gods, they drink the wine that they bought with fines.

But your compassion is endless. You didn’t destroy them or abandon them. You are a merciful and compassionate God.

But the Lord was kind and merciful to the Israelites because of his promise  to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He didn’t want to destroy the Israelites, and even now he hasn’t turned away from them.

He also distributed to all the people—to the whole crowd of Israelites, both men and women—one loaf of bread, one date cake, and one raisin cake. Then all the people went home.

Then they got rid of the foreign gods they had and served the Lord. So the Lord could not bear to have Israel suffer any longer.

They went into the country and harvested grapes in the vineyards to make wine. Then they made an offering of praise in the temple of their gods. They ate, drank, and cursed Abimelech.

Early the next day the people sacrificed burnt offerings and brought fellowship offerings. Afterward, they sat down to a feast, which turned into an orgy.

So don’t worship false gods as some of them did, as Scripture says, “The people sat down to a feast which turned into an orgy.”

Jesus said to him, “Friend, why are you here?” Then some men came forward, took hold of Jesus, and arrested him.

On the day of the king’s celebration, the officials become drunk from wine, and the king joins mockers.

Prostitutes, old wine, and new wine have robbed them of their senses.

He also distributed to every person in Israel—both men and women—a loaf of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake.

Strengthen me with raisins and refresh me with apples because I am weak from love.

Their mother acted like a prostitute. The woman who became pregnant with them did shameful things. She said, ‘I’ll chase after my lovers. They will give me food and water, wool and linen, olive oil and wine.’
