In the days of King Pekah of Israel, King Tiglath Pileser of Assyria took Ijon, Abel Beth Maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, Galilee, and the entire territory of Naphtali. He also took the people away to Assyria as captives.

⌞But⌟ their own swords will pierce their hearts, and their bows will be broken.

He puts an end to wars all over the earth. He breaks an archer’s bow. He cuts spears in two. He burns chariots.

A destroyer will attack Babylon, its soldiers will be captured, and their bows and arrows will be broken. “I, the Lord, am a God who punishes evil. I will certainly punish them.

Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand and make you drop the arrows in your right hand.

“On that day I will make an arrangement with the wild animals, the birds, and the animals that crawl on the ground. I will destroy all the bows, swords, and weapons of war, so people can live safely.

Joseph’s descendants responded, “The mountains are not enough for us either. Besides, all the Canaanites living in the valley, in Beth Shean and its villages, and in the valley of Jezreel have chariots made of iron.”

All of Midian, Amalek, and Kedem combined their armies, crossed ⌞the Jordan River⌟, and camped in the valley of Jezreel.
