Hebrews 9:2

God's Word

A tent was set up. The first part of this tent was called the holy place. The lamp stand, the table, and the bread of the presence were in this part of the tent.

“Make a table of acacia wood 36 inches long, 18 inches wide, and 27 inches high.

Put the bread of the presence on this table so that it will be in front of me all the time.

“Make a lamp stand out of pure gold. The lamp stand, its base, and its shaft, as well as the flower cups, buds, and petals must be hammered out of one piece of gold.

⌞The Lord continued,⌟ “Make the inner tent with ten sheets made from fine linen yarn. Take violet, purple, and bright red yarn, and creatively work an angel  design into the fabric.

Hang the canopy from the fasteners in the ceiling, and put the ark containing the words of my promise under it. The canopy will mark off the most holy place from the holy place.

“Place the table outside the canopy on the north side of the inner tent, and put the lamp stand opposite the table on the south side.

⌞The Lord continued,⌟ “Now, this is what you must do in order to set Aaron and his sons apart to serve me as priests: “Take a young bull that has no defects and two rams that have no defects.

“Do this with Aaron and his sons exactly as I have commanded you. Take seven days to ordain them.

“Set up the tent (the tent of meeting) on the first day of the first month of the year.

Bring in the table, and arrange everything on it. Bring in the lamp stand, and set up the lamps.

Haven’t you read how he went into the house of God and ate  the bread of the presence? He and his men had no right to eat those loaves. Only the priests have that right.

No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket. Instead, everyone who lights a lamp puts it on a lamp stand. Then its light shines on everyone in the house.

Every year the chief priest went into the holy place to make a sacrifice with blood that isn’t his own. However, Christ didn’t go into heaven to sacrifice himself again and again.
