God made this new promise and showed that the first promise was outdated. What is outdated and aging will soon disappear.

Look at the sky. Look at the earth below. The sky will vanish like smoke. The earth will wear out like clothing, and those who live there will die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, and my righteousness will never fail.

The earth and the heavens will disappear, but my words will never disappear.

When supper was over, he did the same with the cup. He said, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new promise  made with my blood.”

Love never comes to an end. There is the gift of speaking what God has revealed, but it will no longer be used. There is the gift of speaking in other languages, but it will stop by itself. There is the gift of knowledge, but it will no longer be used.

He has also qualified us to be ministers of a new promise, a spiritual promise, not a written one. Clearly, what was written brings death, but the Spirit brings life.

Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence.

They will come to an end, but you will live forever. They will all wear out like clothes.

You have come to Jesus, who brings the new promise  from God, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better message than Abel’s.

In this way Jesus has become the guarantee of a better promise.

Jesus has been given a priestly work that is superior to the Levitical priests’ work. He also brings a better promise  from God that is based on better guarantees.

But God found something wrong with his people and said to them, “The days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new promise to Israel and Judah.

Because Christ offered himself to God, he is able to bring a new promise from God. Through his death he paid the price to set people free from the sins they committed under the first promise. He did this so that those who are called can be guaranteed an inheritance that will last forever.
