God wouldn’t change his plan. He wanted to make this perfectly clear to those who would receive his promise, so he took an oath.

The Lord has taken an oath and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the way Melchizedek was a priest.”

The Lord’s plan stands firm forever. His thoughts stand firm in every generation.

They are refreshed with the rich foods in your house, and you make them drink from the river of your pleasure.

The case between them must be settled by swearing an oath to the Lord that the neighbor did not take the other person’s animal. The owner must accept the oath. The neighbor doesn’t have to make up for the loss.

Many plans are in the human heart, but the advice of the Lord will endure.

My bride, my sister, I will come to my garden. I will gather my myrrh with my spice. I will eat my honeycomb with my honey. I will drink my wine with my milk. Eat, my friends! Drink and become intoxicated with expressions of love!

The Lord of Armies has taken an oath: “It will happen exactly as I’ve intended. It will turn out exactly as I’ve planned.

From the beginning I revealed the end. From long ago I told you things that had not yet happened, saying, “My plan will stand, and I’ll do everything I intended to do.”

My word, which comes from my mouth, is like the rain and snow. It will not come back to me without results. It will accomplish whatever I want and achieve whatever I send it to do.”

Let wicked people abandon their ways. Let evil people abandon their thoughts. Let them return to the Lord, and he will show compassion to them. Let them return to our God, because he will freely forgive them.

“I, the Lord, never change. That is why you descendants of Jacob haven’t been destroyed yet.

A thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But I came so that my sheep will have life and so that they will have everything they need.

God never changes his mind when he gives gifts or when he calls someone.

If we are his children, we are also God’s heirs. If we share in Christ’s suffering in order to share his glory, we are heirs together with him.

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants and heirs, as God promised.

God also decided ahead of time to choose us through Christ according to his plan, which makes everything work the way he intends.

Faith led Noah to listen when God warned him about the things in the future that he could not see. He obeyed God and built a ship to save his family. Through faith Noah condemned the world and received God’s approval that comes through faith.

Faith led Abraham to live as a foreigner in the country that God had promised him. He lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who received the same promise from God.

Then, instead of being lazy, you will imitate those who are receiving the promises through faith and patience.

When people take oaths, they base their oaths on someone greater than themselves. Their oaths guarantee what they say and end all arguments.

God did this so that we would be encouraged. God cannot lie when he takes an oath or makes a promise. These two things can never be changed. Those of us who have taken refuge in him hold on to the confidence we have been given.

Every good present and every perfect gift comes from above, from the Father who made the sun, moon, and stars. The Father doesn’t change like the shifting shadows produced by the sun and the moon.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Didn’t God choose poor people in the world to become rich in faith and to receive the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?

Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! God has given us a new birth because of his great mercy. We have been born into a new life that has a confidence which is alive because Jesus Christ has come back to life.

Husbands, in a similar way, live with your wives with understanding since they are weaker than you are. Honor your wives as those who share God’s life-giving kindness  so that nothing will interfere with your prayers.
