We have a chief priest who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses. He was tempted in every way that we are, but he didn’t sin.

where he was tempted by the devil for 40 days. During those days Jesus ate nothing, so when they were over, he was hungry.

Can any of you convict me of committing a sin? If I’m telling the truth, why don’t you believe me?

It is impossible to do what God’s standards demand because of the weakness our human nature has. But God sent his Son to have a human nature as sinners have and to pay for sin. That way God condemned sin in our corrupt nature.

God had Christ, who was sinless, take our sin so that we might receive God’s approval through him.

We need to hold on to our declaration of faith: We have a superior chief priest who has gone through the heavens. That person is Jesus, the Son of God.

The chief priest can be gentle with people who are ignorant and easily deceived, because he also has weaknesses.

We need a chief priest who is holy, innocent, pure, set apart from sinners, and who holds the honored position—the one next to God the Father on the heavenly throne.

Likewise, Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of humanity, and after that he will appear a second time. This time he will not deal with sin, but he will save those who eagerly wait for him.

Christ never committed any sin. He never spoke deceitfully.

You know that Christ appeared in order to take away our sins. He isn’t sinful.
