Hebrews 3:1

God's Word

Brothers and sisters, you are holy partners in a heavenly calling. So look carefully at Jesus, the apostle and chief priest about whom we make our declaration of faith.

The Lord has taken an oath and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the way Melchizedek was a priest.”

Oxen know their owners, and donkeys know where their masters feed them. But Israel doesn’t know ⌞its owner⌟. My people don’t understand ⌞who feeds them⌟.

People will see and know. Together they will consider and understand that the Lord’s power has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

At their feasts there are lyres and harps, tambourines and flutes, and wine. Yet, they don’t pay attention to what the Lord is doing or see what his hands have done.

“Son of man, pack your bags as if you were going into exile. Let the people see you leave in the daylight. March like a captive from your place to another place as they watch. Maybe they will understand, even though they are rebellious people.

He realized what he was doing and turned away from all the rebellious things that he had done. He will certainly live. He will not die.

Now, this is what the Lord of Armies says: Carefully consider your ways!

“And from now on, carefully consider this. Consider how things were before one stone was laid on another in the temple of the Lord.

This is eternal life: to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you sent.

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”

Then Jesus said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Take your hand, and put it into my side. Stop doubting, and believe.”

At a time when about 120 disciples had gathered together, Peter got up and spoke to them. He said,

But some of the olive branches have been broken off, and you, a wild olive branch, have been grafted in their place. You get your nourishment from the roots of the olive tree.

These Macedonians and Greeks have shared the spiritual wealth of the Christians in Jerusalem. So they are obligated to use their earthly wealth to help them.

Let me explain. Christ became a servant for the Jewish people to reveal God’s truth. As a result, he fulfilled God’s promise to the ancestors of the Jewish people.

This is what God did for us whom he called—whether we are Jews or not.

To God’s church that was made holy by Christ Jesus and called to be God’s holy people in the city of Corinth and to people everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Because there is one loaf, we are one body, although we are many individuals. All of us share one loaf.

I do all this for the sake of the Good News in order to share what it offers.

We have confidence in you. We know that as you share our sufferings, you also share our comfort.

You will honor God through this genuine act of service because of your commitment to spread the Good News of Christ and because of your generosity in sharing with them and everyone else.

This mystery is the Good News that people who are not Jewish have the same inheritance as Jewish people do. They belong to the same body and share the same promise that God made in Christ Jesus.

I, a prisoner in the Lord, encourage you to live the kind of life which proves that God has called you.

There is one body and one Spirit. In the same way you were called to share one hope.

I run straight toward the goal to win the prize that God’s heavenly call offers in Christ Jesus.

You will also thank the Father, who has made you able to share the light, which is what God’s people inherit.

But now Christ has brought you back to God by dying in his physical body. He did this so that you could come into God’s presence without sin, fault, or blame.

As holy people whom God has chosen and loved, be sympathetic, kind, humble, gentle, and patient.

you should live in a way that proves you belong to the God who calls you into his kingdom and glory.

In the Lord’s name, I order you to read this letter to all the brothers and sisters.

With this in mind, we always pray that our God will make you worthy of his call. We also pray that through ⌞his⌟ power he will help you accomplish every good desire and help you do everything your faith produces.

With this in mind he called you by the Good News which we told you so that you would obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Fight the good fight for the Christian faith. Take hold of everlasting life to which you were called and about which you made a good testimony in front of many witnesses.

Slaves whose masters also believe should respect their masters even though their masters are also believers. As a result, believers who are slaves should serve their masters even better because those who receive the benefit of their work are believers whom they love. Teach and encourage people to do these things.

God saved us and called us to be holy, not because of what we had done, but because of his own plan and kindness. Before the world began, God planned that Christ Jesus would show us God’s kindness.

Understand what I’m saying. The Lord will help you understand all these things.

Brothers and sisters, because of the blood of Jesus we can now confidently go into the holy place.

We have a superior priest in charge of God’s house.

We must continue to hold firmly to our declaration of faith. The one who made the promise is faithful.

I urge you, brothers and sisters, to listen patiently to my encouraging words. I have written you a short letter.

Jesus, who makes people holy, and all those who are made holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus isn’t ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.

Therefore, he had to become like his brothers and sisters so that he could be merciful. He became like them so that he could serve as a faithful chief priest in God’s presence and make peace with God for their sins.

Be careful, brothers and sisters, that none of you ever develop a wicked, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.

After all, we will remain Christ’s partners only if we continue to hold on to our original confidence until the end.

where Jesus went before us on our behalf. He has become the chief priest forever in the way Melchizedek was a priest.

We need a chief priest who is holy, innocent, pure, set apart from sinners, and who holds the honored position—the one next to God the Father on the heavenly throne.

Moses’ Teachings designated mortals as chief priests even though they had weaknesses. But God’s promise, which came after Moses’ Teachings, designated the Son who forever accomplished everything that God required.

But Christ came as a chief priest of the good things that are now here. Christ went through a better, more perfect tent that was not made by human hands and that is not part of this created world.

Because Christ offered himself to God, he is able to bring a new promise from God. Through his death he paid the price to set people free from the sins they committed under the first promise. He did this so that those who are called can be guaranteed an inheritance that will last forever.

However, you are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, people who belong to God. You were chosen to tell about the excellent qualities of God, who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

After all, this is how holy women who had confidence in God expressed their beauty in the past. They placed themselves under their husbands’ authority

I appeal to your spiritual leaders. I make this appeal as a spiritual leader who also witnessed Christ’s sufferings and will share in the glory that will be revealed.

God, who shows you his kindness  and who has called you through Christ Jesus to his eternal glory, will restore you, strengthen you, make you strong, and support you as you suffer for a little while.

This is the life we have seen and heard. We are reporting about it to you also so that you, too, can have a relationship with us. Our relationship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

From Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James. To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father, and who are kept safe for Jesus Christ.

They will go to war against the lamb. The lamb will conquer them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings. Those who are called, chosen, and faithful are with him.”

“Gloat over it, heaven, God’s people, apostles, and prophets. God has condemned it for you.”
