So David went to Baal Perazim and defeated the Philistines there. He said, “The Lord has overwhelmed my enemies in front of me like an overwhelming flood.” That is why that place is called Baal Perazim [The Lord Overwhelms].

“Do not touch my anointed ones or harm my prophets.”

He sent his servant Moses, and he sent Aaron, whom he had chosen.

He will pass judgment on the nations and fill them with dead bodies. Throughout the earth he will crush ⌞their⌟ heads.

Now I know that the Lord will give victory to his anointed king. He will answer him from his holy heaven with mighty deeds of his powerful hand.

The Lord is the strength of his people and a fortress for the victory of his Messiah.

O God, when you went in front of your people, when you marched through the desert, Selah

Like a shepherd, you led your people. You had Moses and Aaron take them by the hand.

Moses and Aaron were among his priests. Samuel was among those who prayed to him. They called to the Lord, and he answered them.

Then his people remembered Moses and the distant past. Where is the one who brought them out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is the one who put his Holy Spirit in them?

If only you would split open the heavens and come down! The mountains would quake at your presence.

I will tear down the wall that the prophets covered up with paint. I will level it and expose its foundation. When the wall falls, they will be destroyed by it. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and he said: Strike the tops of the pillars so that the foundations shake. Cut off everyone’s head. I will kill with a sword all who are left. None of them will be able to get away. None of them will be able to escape.

As they fled from the Israelites down the slope of Beth Horon toward Azekah, the Lord threw huge hailstones on them. More died from the hailstones than from Israelite swords.

When they brought them to Joshua, he called for all the men of Israel. He told the officers who had gone with him, “Come forward and put your feet on the necks of these kings.” So that’s what they did.

Joshua captured all these kings and their territories in one campaign because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.

So Joshua captured all these cities and their kings. He claimed them for the Lord by destroying them, as the Lord’s servant Moses had commanded him.

The Lord handed them over to Israel, and the Israelites defeated them. The Israelites chased them as far as Great Sidon, Misrephoth Maim, and the valley of Mizpah in the east. There were no survivors.
