The dove couldn’t find a place to land because the water was still all over the earth. So it came back to Noah in the ship. He reached out and brought the dove back into the ship.
He waited seven more days and again sent the dove out of the ship.
Next, he sent out a dove to see if the water was gone from the surface of the ground.
Be at peace again, my soul, because the Lord has been good to you.
“Who are these people that fly by like clouds, like doves to their nests?
Those who survive will escape to the mountains. They will moan like doves in the valleys. They will moan because of their sins.
“Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.
I’ve told you this so that my peace will be with you. In the world you’ll have trouble. But cheer up! I have overcome the world.”
Among those nations you will find no peace, no place to call your own. There the Lord will give you an unsettled mind, failing eyesight, and despair.
