I’m about to send a flood on the earth to destroy all people under the sky—every living, breathing human. Everything on earth will die.

When he holds back the waters, there is a drought. When he releases them, they flood the earth.

Who is wise enough to count the clouds or pour out the water jars of heaven

He gathers the water in the sea like a dam and puts the oceans in his storehouses.

You opened the springs and brooks. You dried up the ever-flowing rivers.

By his knowledge the deep waters were divided, and the skies dropped dew.

Whoever flees from news of a disaster will fall into a pit. Whoever climbs out of that pit will be caught in a trap. The floodgates in the sky will be opened, and the foundations of the earth will shake.

The earth will be completely broken. The earth will shake back and forth violently. The earth will stagger.

Don’t you fear me?” asks the Lord. “Don’t you tremble in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, a permanent barrier that it cannot cross. Although the waves toss continuously, they can’t break through. Although they roar, they can’t cross it.

When he thunders, the water in the sky roars. He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain. He brings wind out of his storehouses.

“This is what the Almighty Lord says: I will turn your city into ruins like cities that have no one living in them. I will bring the deep ocean over you, and the Mediterranean Sea will cover you.

“Bring one-tenth of your income into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. Test me in this way,” says the Lord of Armies. “See if I won’t open the windows of heaven for you and flood you with blessings.

In the days before the flood, people were eating, drinking, and getting married until the day that Noah went into the ship.

When people say, “Everything is safe and sound!” destruction will suddenly strike them. It will be as sudden as labor pains come to a pregnant woman. They won’t be able to escape.

Water also flooded and destroyed that world.
