Genesis 43:23

“It’s alright,” he said. “Don’t be afraid! Your God, the God of your father, must have given you treasure in your sacks. I received your money.” Then he brought Simeon out to them.

He stepped away from them to cry. When he could speak to them again, he came back. Then he picked Simeon and had him arrested right in front of their eyes.

He said to his brothers, “My money has been put back! It’s right here in my sack!” They wanted to die. They trembled and turned to each other and asked, “What has God done to us?”

Their father Jacob said to them, “You’re going to make me lose all my children! Joseph is no longer with us, Simeon is no longer with us, and now you want to take Benjamin. Everything’s against me!”

May God Almighty make him merciful to you so that he will send your other brother and Benjamin ⌞home⌟ with you. If I lose my children, I lose my children.”

Then the Spirit gave Amasai, the leader of the thirty, the strength ⌞to say⌟, “We are yours, David. We are with you, son of Jesse. Success, success to you! Success to those who help you, because your God is helping you.” So David welcomed them and made them officers over his troops.

Some men from Manasseh had deserted ⌞Saul’s army⌟ to join David when he went with the Philistines to attack Saul. (However, David didn’t help the Philistines because their rulers sent him away after considering the matter. They said, “It will cost us our heads when he deserts and joins his master Saul.”)

Then the king sent this reply: To Rehum the commander, Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their group living in Samaria, and to others west of the Euphrates River: I wish you peace and prosperity!

Whenever you go into a house, greet the family right away with the words, ‘May there be peace in this house.’

While they were talking about what had happened, Jesus stood among them. He said to them, “Peace be with you!”

“I’m leaving you peace. I’m giving you my peace. I don’t give you the kind of peace that the world gives. So don’t be troubled or cowardly.

That Sunday evening, the disciples were together behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jews. Jesus stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you!”

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”

A week later Jesus’ disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Even though the doors were locked, Jesus stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

Then the old man said, “Welcome! Let me take care of your needs. Just don’t spend the night in the city square.”

The Lord said to him, “Calm down! Don’t be afraid. You will not die.”

Say to him, ‘May you live ⌞long⌟! May you, your home, and all you have prosper!
