When we stopped for the night, we opened our sacks, and each man found all of his money inside. So we brought it back with us.

Take twice as much money with you. You must return the money that was put back in your sacks. Maybe it was a mistake.

The men took the gifts, twice as much money, and Benjamin. They went to Egypt, where they presented themselves to Joseph.

“Please, sir,” they said, “we came here to buy food once before.

We also brought more money to buy food. We have no idea who put our money back in our sacks.”

We brought the money we found in our sacks back from Canaan. So why would we steal any silver or gold from your master’s house?

Don’t pay people back with evil for the evil they do to you. Focus your thoughts on those things that are considered noble.

Pay your debts as they come due. However, one debt you can never finish paying is the debt of love that you owe each other. The one who loves another person has fulfilled Moses’ Teachings.

Pray for us. We are sure that our consciences are clear because we want to live honorably in every way.

Don’t love money. Be happy with what you have because God has said, “I will never abandon you or leave you.”

Live decent lives among unbelievers. Then, although they ridicule you as if you were doing wrong while they are watching you do good things, they will praise God on the day he comes to help you.

Keep your conscience clear. Then those who treat the good Christian life you live with contempt will feel ashamed that they have ridiculed you.
