both prisoners—the cupbearer and the baker for the king of Egypt—had dreams one night. Each man had a dream with its own special meaning.

God came to Abimelech in a dream one night and said to him, “You’re going to die because of the woman that you’ve taken! She’s a married woman!”

Later the king’s cupbearer  and his baker offended their master, the king of Egypt.

The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he took care of them. After they had been confined for some time,

When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were upset.

“We both had dreams,” they answered him, “but there’s no one to tell us what they mean.” “Isn’t God the only one who can tell what they mean?” Joseph asked them. “Why don’t you tell me all about them.”

We both had dreams the same night. Each dream had its own meaning.

That night the king could not sleep. So he told ⌞a servant⌟ to bring the official daily records, and they were read to the king.

Then Daniel (who had been renamed Belteshazzar) was momentarily stunned. What he was thinking frightened him. I told him, “Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream and its meaning frighten you.” Belteshazzar answered, “Sir, I wish that the dream were about those who hate you and its meaning were about your enemies.

I had a dream that terrified me. The visions I had while I was asleep frightened me.

“Belteshazzar, head of the magicians, I know the spirit of the holy gods is in you. No secret is too hard for you ⌞to uncover⌟. Tell me the meaning of the visions I had in my dream.

He said, “Listen to my words: When there are prophets of the Lord among you, I make myself known to them in visions or speak to them in dreams.
