When Leah saw that she had stopped having children, she took her slave Zilpah and gave her to Jacob as his wife.
After Abram had lived in Canaan for ten years, Abram’s wife Sarai took her Egyptian slave Hagar and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
(Laban had given his slave Zilpah to his daughter Leah as her slave.)
She became pregnant again and gave birth to another son. She said, “This time I will praise the Lord.” So she named him Judah [Praise]. Then she stopped having children.
Leah’s slave Zilpah gave birth to a son for Jacob.
God answered Leah’s prayer. She became pregnant and gave birth to her fifth son for Jacob.
So she gave him her slave Bilhah as his wife, and Jacob slept with her.
Rachel said, “I have had a great struggle with my sister, and I have won!” So she named him Naphtali [My Struggle].
These were the descendants of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Leah. She gave birth to these children for Jacob. The total was 16.
