Leah’s slave Zilpah gave birth to a son for Jacob.
Leah said, “I’ve been lucky!” So she called him Gad [Luck].
When Leah saw that she had stopped having children, she took her slave Zilpah and gave her to Jacob as his wife.
The sons of Leah’s slave Zilpah were Gad and Asher. These were Jacob’s sons, who were born in Paddan Aram.
Gad will have one part of the land and border Zebulun on the south. It will extend from the eastern border to the western border.
The roster of families and households for the descendants of Gad listed the men by name who were at least 20 years old and eligible for military duty.
The tribes of Reuben and Gad had a large number of livestock. They saw that the regions of Jazer and Gilead were a good place for livestock.
